Tatum’s dream comes true as Celtics dominate Los Angeles and try to win in December

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics won back-to-back games against the Los Angeles Clippers and the Lakers at the Dome. The Celtics beat the Lakers 126-115 on Christmas Day, further consolidating their 23-6 record in the NBA.

Tatum showed his inner Kobe Bryant with 25 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and a hat trick. He played almost the entire game, relishing the opportunity to play on the iconic court where his idol once reigned.

Tatum’s dream comes true as Celtics dominate Los Angeles and try to win in December

“It’s a dream come true,” confessed Tatum, “and it’s a special feeling to play on the Lakers’ court. I grew up watching the Lakers and it will never be a given to play in the same arena where Kobe used to play.”

Although the arena was officially renamed “Staples Center” in 2021, it is the legacy of legendary Lakers stars like Kobe and Shaq. Tatum’s performance was a tribute to his idols and honored the history and magic of the Lakers’ former home.

The Christmas Day victory marked the third meeting between the Celtics and the Lakers this holiday season, after the Minneapolis Lakers won in 1951 and 2008. Tatum and his teammates are proud of Boston’s 1-2 record.

The Celtics’ dominance goes far beyond the recent win in Los Angeles. They were almost unbeatable in December, posting a 9-2 record. The only blemishes were an NBA conference game against the Pacers on December 19 and a loss to the Golden State Warriors.

The Celtics face a very favorable schedule that includes the Detroit Pistons (2 wins, 27 losses), the Toronto Raptors (11 wins, 18 losses) and the San Antonio Spurs (4 wins, 24 losses), and are likely to finish December with an undefeated record. Two of the three remaining games are at home, where they have a 14-game winning streak.

Considering the low offensive rating and poor defense of the San Antonio Spurs, the Celtics’ 12-2 record in December looks promising. If they can achieve that feat, it will be a testament to their unwavering momentum and Tatum’s leadership, further cementing their dominance in the NBA.
